Magadh University - Bodhgaya

Magadh University was founded on 01 March, 1962. Dr sarvapalli RadhaKrishnan, the former President of India laid the Foundation of the University. Dr. K.K Dutta, one of the most famous Historian of India at that time was the Founder Vice- Chancellor of the University.


Magadh University is considered to be the large University of Bihar spread in the area of 460 Acres of Land. The University is located near Bodh Gaya receiving the spiritual breeze of Bodhi Tree where Lord Buddha got enlightment.


For providing accommodation to the students, Magadh University has established several hostels for girls and boys separately. There is a Central library with a large number of books, manuscripts and other study materials.

Lalit Narayan Mithila University - Darbhanga

The Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga established because of tremendous hard effort of much eminent personality like Dr. Amarnatha Jha, Dr. R.C. Mazumdar, Dr. A. S. Altekar, Dr. Sunit Kumar Chaterjee and many others.

Under the leadership of Dr Amarnath Jha, Mithila University committee was formed on 27 January 1947. Pt. Harinath Mishra was the General Secretary. In the year 1968, UGC commission visited Darbhanga to survey the area for the establishment of the University.


The committee recommended that establishment of the University in Darbhanga will be glorify the education structure in Bihar. In the year 1972 the University was carved out of Bihar University, Muzaffarpur. In the year 1975 the name of Mithila University was changed to Lalit Narayan Mithila University but soon the University restored its original name. In 1980 again the University was named Lalit Narayan Mithila University.

Jai Prakash Vishwavidyalaya - Chapra

The Jai Prakash Vishwavidyalaya was established in 1990 in Chapra town of Bihar state is one of the premier institution for providing education at Under Graduate and Postgraduate level.

The Jai Prakash Vishwavidyalaya has got Affiliating University status from the UGC of India. The University has several PG Departments, which proved their mettle.

The Jai Prakash Vishwavidyalaya has many Constituent colleges to its credit.

Admission into Under Graduate and Postgraduate programs of the University is strictly made on the basis of guidelines set by the university.

Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology - Punjab

Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology situated at Longowal village in Sangrur district in Punjab was established in 1989 by the HRD Ministry of the Indian Government to pay homage to Sant Harchand Singh Longowal. It formally got functional in 1991 and in 2007 in the month of April it achieved the status of a Deemed University.


The institute functions autonomously with the approval of AICTE. The college offers a number of programs in its academic curriculum which includes Chemical Engineering,, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Humanities and Entrepreneurship development.

Punjabi University - Patiala

Punjabi University, established on the April 30th 1962 under the Punjabi University Act. This is the second university in the world to be named after a language.

Punjabi university has been awarded the status of five star by the NAAC, a statutory body of the University Grants Commission (UGC)

Membership: The University is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU)

NAAC Rating: A Grade with CGPA: 3.11 (as per NAAC Re-accredition on September 16, 2008)

Panjab University - Chandigar

Panjab University established in 1882 at Lahore (now in Pakistan).University campus is spread over an area of 550 acres (2.2 km2) in sectors 14 and 25 of the city of Chandigarh.

Department of Physics was established in 1947, in Govt. College, Hoshiarpur (Punjab). In August 1958, the Department was shifted to the present campus.

Department of physics is one of the major research centers among Indian universities with a status of Center of Advanced Study since 1988. Presently the department has strength of 28 faculty members, 50 non-teaching/assisting staff, 40 research students and about 300 graduate and undergraduate students. About 30 research projects worth eight crore rupees under national/international collaborations are operating in the department.

Guru Nanak Dev University - Amritsar

Guru Nanak Dev University has been named after famous Sikh saint Guru Nanak Dev. The University was established on November 24, 1969.

It is an affiliating and residential university. The university has two regional campuses located at Jalandhar and Gurdaspur.

All the departments of the University are equipped with independent computer facilities, internet connectivity and departmental libraries.



Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University - Ludhiana

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), once a constituent college of Punjab Agricultural University , was set up on August 9, 2005 at Ludhiana . It started functioning on April 21, 2006 with the aim to serve the society by promoting livestock production, health and prevention of diseases by means of integrated teaching and extension programmes.


The university has a well equipped Veterinary Teaching Hospital to meet the demands of large and small animal health, provide specialized treatment for the referred livestock patients and to offer clinical training to the students.

Kurukshetra University - Haryana

Kurukshetra University  was established in 1956 in Kurukshetra in Haryana, India, situated 160 km from Delhi, and member of Association of Commonwealth Universities.

The Kurukshetra University was the dream of the then Punjab Governor, Sir Chandeshwar Prasad Narayan Singh, a great Sanskrit scholar, who wanted to set up an institute to promote Indian culture and traditions.  Department of Sanskrit was the first and the only department in university when it was inaugurated by India's first President, Dr.Rajendra Prasad. Its campus is spread over 400 acres.

University Science Instrumentation Centre (USIC) was established in 1976 by UGC initially as a Central Instrumentation facility at Kurukshetra University. Recently the name of the department has been changed as Institute of Instrumentation Engineering with USIC remaining as one of the constituents of the IIE

Guru Jambheshwar University - Hisar

Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJU) at Hisar is an 'A' grade university as declared by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC.

The campus of the University is renowned for its picturesque beauty and the infrastructural wonders. The campus is about 160 kms away from New Delhi, and sprawls over 372 acres of land.

It was formally inaugurated on November 1, 1995. It is named after Guru Jambheshwar Ji Maharaj, a saint environmentalist of 15th century. But the name was later changed to Guru Jambheshwar university of Science & Technology, because of its dedication to the frontiers of development and research in Science and Technology.

Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology - Sonepat

The Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology formally known as CR State College of Engineering, Murthal started functioning from the Academic year 1987-88 & is the first Govt. Engineering College in the State of Haryana.


The Institution started initially with two disciplines in Mech. Engineering & Electronics & Communication Engineering with an intake of 30 students in each branch. Subsequently, various discipline were added & at present there are 8 under graduate courses and 3 P.G. Courses.


The various under graduate courses are Computer Sc. & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication. BPS Mahila Vishwavidyalaya - Haryana


The B.P.S. Mahila Vishwavidyalaya was established under a Legislative Notification passed in November 2006. Prior to this it was a Kanya Gurukul which was started by Bhagat Phool Singh way back in 1936. He fought for his cause with conviction and in November 2006, the Gurukul was finally made into the First Women University of North India under a Legislative notification bearing the name of Bhagat.

The University is the only Rural Womens University in the country.

Utkal University - Bhubaneswar

Utkal University, the seventh oldest university of India, was established in 1943. The present campus of the university is located in Bhubaneswar at Vani Vihar campus. The campus of the Utkal University spreads over 399.9 acres of land.

The Utkal University in Orissa holds about 26 post-graduate departments, which takes care of post-graduate studies and researches in a number of courses such as Social Science, Commerce, Humanities, Science, Business Administration and Law.


The Utkal University of Orissa is the largest university of India that holds about 263 affiliated colleges under its jurisdiction.

Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya-Puri

Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya, the third Sanskrit university in India was established on 7.7.1981 at Puri by the state government of Orissa. Eighteen years in the life of a University is quite an important period

The Vishvavidyalaya has been included under the Sec.2 (f) and 12(b) of the U.G.C. Act,thereby, enabling it to receive the U.G.C.recognition and grant.Still there are miles to go and much more to be achieved.

Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya provides separate hostel facilities for men and women, named 'Vishvanath Kaviraj Chhatrabas' and 'Brahmi Chhatrabas', respectively. Both the hostels are located within the premises of the university.

Sambalpur University - Orissa

The Sambalpur University was created by an Act passed by the Legislature of Orissa on 10th December, 1966 to fulfill long cherished dream of the people of Western Orissa for establishment of a University. The dream for a University was crystallized on 1st January, 1967 when the University started functioning.


The Post graduate Departments of Sambalpur University offers PG Diploma, MA, M Sc., M Tech, M.Phil, PhD, and D.Sc degrees. All the departments are actively involved in research and well equipped for research facility for NET/JRF/GATE students[2].


The Post Graduate Departments of Chemistry, Life Sciences, History, Economics, Library & Information Sciences and Mathematics have been granted autonomous status by the University

Ravenshaw University - Orrisa

Ravenshaw University came into existence on the 15th day of November, 2006. It was an  upgradation of Ravenshaw College established in 1868.


The grand hall of this institution was a theatre of history : on the 1st of April'1936 it was the venue for the declaration of Orissa as a separate province; thereafter it housed the state's first legislative assembly upto and even after Independence till it was shifted to Bhubaneswar, the new capital of the state. During Quit India Movement of 1942 the students of this institution brought down the Union Jack as a mark of nationalistic fervour. 

The College originally was affiliated to Calcutta University and thereafter  to Patna University in 1917 and was finally  affiliated to Utkal University in 1943.

Berhampur University - Orrisa

Berhampur University was established in 1967, inaugurated by Dr AN Khosla, the then Governor of Orissa and the first Chancellor of the University.
